General Event Reminders:

  • ForeShore is a rain or shine event.
  • We do not offer refunds or deferred registration. Please see the Transfer Policy below if you have registered and are unable to participate.
  • Shoes MUST be worn on the course.
  • Bring a towel and dry clothes to cheer on others and enjoy the event post run.

Is the competitive wave only for pros?

Not at all! The competitive wave is for anyone who would like the additional challenge and pressure of running the course in a competitive setting. Running in the competitive waves will automatically enter you to win awards based on your age group and race time. For more information visit, the Participate page.

How much of my registration goes back to the mission?

All of it! Every cent of your registration fee directly benefits Muskegon Rescue Mission’s homeless shelters and food pantry. $1.97 provides one meal so your registration will feed one person for a week or more. Thank you so much for your support!

What is the minimum age to participate?

We do not have a minimum age for participants. Our youngest runners have been 7 years old in years past and they have a blast. It is at your discretion, as the parent or guardian, to allow your child to participate. We do ask that a parent or guardian run with them. There are not discounts available for children who run.

If you don’t think your child is quite ready to take on the full course, we have a Kid’s Zone available for children. The Kid’s Zone is FREE to participate in and open while runners are on the course. This is a miniature version of the obstacle course complete with bounce houses, cookies provided by Grand Traverse Pie and juice provided by Pepsi. The Kid’s Zone is best suited for children ages 3 – 8 years old, but children of any age are welcome to join us in the Kid’s Zone.

What is the cost to run?

Registration Fees increase as the event nears. Here is a detailed schedule of the registration fee based on date. Run Signup fees are not included in the prices below.

  • May 19, 2019 – December 31, 2019 – $40
  • January 1, 2020 – April 30, 2020 – $45
  • May 1, 2020 – May 9, 2020 – $50
  • May 10, 2020 – May 15, 2020 – $55
  • May 16, 2020 – $60

Can you tell me about the Kid's Zone?

The Kid’s Zone is a miniature version of the 5k obstacle course. The Kid’s Zone is free admission and there are no specific waves so no need to sign up ahead of time. It is a place for children to have a blast on obstacles similar to those on the traditional course over and over again. The Kid’s Zone officially opens at 8:30am EST and will close around the same time as when the last runners cross the finish (approx. noon EST). The Kid’s Zone is complete with bounce houses, cookies provided by Grand Traverse Pie and juice provided by Pepsi. The Kid’s Zone is best suited for children ages 3 – 8 years old, but children of any age are welcome to join us.

Inclement Weather Policy

ForeShore will NOT be cancelled due to rain alone. In the event of lightning and thunder, the run will be postponed by 30 minutes every time lightning is spotted and thunder is heard within 3 miles of the event. Please note that every time lightning strikes and thunder is heard within 3 miles of any part of the race course, we must restart the 30 minutes.

Transfer Policy - Can I transfer my registration to someone else?

If you are unable to run ForeShore for whatever reason, we allow registration transfers until one week before the event. For 2020, all transfer requests must be submitted by May 8, 2020. No exceptions. To submit a registration transfer request, email foreshoreinfo@muskegonmission.org and include the following information. Once the transfer has been complete, we will send you a confirmation email.

When does registration close?

Online registration closes at noon the Friday before race day. For 2020, online registration will shut down at noon EST on Friday, May 15, 2020. If you would like to sign up after online registration closes, you may join us at Packet Pick Up or the morning of race day at the registration tent.

Can I register the day of the race?

Absolutely! Race day registration is available beginning at 7:30am the morning of the race and will close around 11:00am when the last wave leaves. Race Day Registration costs $60. Visit the Registration tent upon arrival to get set up.

I want to run with a friend, but I don’t see their start time, can you squeeze me in?

More than likely. If you are hoping to join other participants at a certain time and no longer see that time as an option, that time slot has more than likely filled up. Good news though, we can generally squeeze you in to run with friends. Sign up for a different start time then send us an email at foreshoreinfo@muskegonmission.org with the time you would like to run and we will get you squared away.

Where can I find my start time?

Your start time can be found on your confirmation email. In your email search, “ForeShore Adventure Run” and you should have a confirmation email from Run Signup. At the bottom of the email, it will say “Question Responses”. This is where you will find your start time.

I selected the wrong shirt size, can I switch it?

Yes, you can switch your shirt size. We allow changes to your shirt size until one week before the event. For 2020, all shirt size change requests must be submitted by May 8, 2020. No exceptions. To submit a request, please email foreshoreinfo@muskegonmission.org.

I am trying to register, but my email is not working.

If you have registered for ForeShore or any other race that utilizes Run Signup, you created an account with your email. This means you have to “sign in” to complete your registration rather than creating a new account. If you do not remember your password, select “returning participant” then “forgot password” to reset your password. Once your password is reset, you should be able to complete your registration with your Run Signup Account. If you continue to have problems registering, check out Run SignUp’s help feature or contact us at foreshoreinfo@muskegonmission.org.

When is Packet Pick Up?

Packet Pick Up is the Friday evening before race day from 5:00pm – 7:00pm. Packet Pick Up takes place in the Registration tent outside of The Deck Restaurant. During this time, you will also have the option to receive a sneak peak of the course led by our race team.

I can’t make packet pick up, can I pick up my participant packet the morning of the race?

Yes! You can absolutely pick up your packet the morning of the race. Please visit the Registration tent 45 minutes before your scheduled start time to ensure there is plenty of time to get your packet and get ready to run.

Race Day Topics

Are spectators allowed?

Absolutely! Our runners love to be cheered on throughout the course. You are welcome to join us on the beach to watch and cheer them on. We ask that you stay off the course to avoid getting in the way of runners.

Perk for spectators, the course is easy to walk along or hop in your car and drive to the various obstacles!

What should I bring with me?

We are on the beach so it is a guarantee that you will be sweaty, wet and covered in sand. We highly suggest you bring a towel, change of clothes, and dry shoes to be comfortable during post run activities.
